Interested in planning a spring photography session? That’s fantastic news! We’re going to walk through a few ways you can rock your spring wardrobe for your upcoming session.
Plan your outfits to coordinate – not match
Whether it’s a family session with 10+ people or a sweetheart session, it’s important to consider how the colours will fit together. Gone are the days when everyone wore the same colour sweater and blue jeans. We’ve entered the era where finding complementary colours are key.
Try a few variations of the same colour family – these greens can all be incorporated into different outfits. Possibly as pants, a shirt with some print or a cute scarf. Mix in the desired 2-3 colours in with neutral coloured items. But remember, the trick is not to overdo it. So don’t show up wearing head-to-toe green like you’re sporting a gilly suit. Only one to two items in your whole outfit should reflect the chosen colours.
Choose fun colours
Choosing the colours for everyone to coordinate with can be a little tricky. Not everyone will want to go out and buy new items just for the session. By selecting a dark blue/navy colour to be part of the session, that allows people to use blue jeans as a wardrobe option.
Here is my personal favourite way to use blue to your advantage. This colour palette screams spring! Add in a few cream and black articles of clothing, and you have a wonderfully coordinated wardrobe.
Bring interchangeable accessories
Make the most of your sessions by bringing a few items that will change your look. The best items for quick changes are scarfs, light jackets, or hats. The items that you plan on changing should also be in the same colour palette as the rest of the outfits.
Lastly, you should be comfortable during your session. Find an outfit that flatters and makes you feel confident. The better you feel, the better you’ll look in the photos.
